Wandering WiFi Provides Secure Wi-Fi Access and Support for Proctor Hospital

ATLANTA - March 23, 2009 Wandering WiFi, a leader in providing secure public and private wireless technology solutions, announced today that Proctor Hospital has successfully implemented Wandering WiFi’s wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) service for its public wireless networks throughout its main Peoria, IL hospital campus, including portions of an adjoining physicians’ office building. The public network provides hospital visitors and patients with complimentary wireless Internet access.

“We already had a wireless infrastructure in place for our private network. We wanted to leverage that existing infrastructure to offer a service to our customers,” said Jennifer Clyatt, administrative director for Health Informatics and Technology for Proctor Hospital. “Superior customer service was key in providing this service. We needed to be able to offer our patients and their visitors 24/7 support, 365 days a year. Wandering WiFi provided that expertise and got us up and running with our public network in less than 60 days. Considering the value-add and the number of people using the system, the cost was very reasonable and the service has been great.”

Wandering WiFi’s service also provides Proctor with the ability to force users to agree to terms and conditions when accessing the Internet, and offers added content-filtering and blocking options at the hospital’s request. “As a healthcare organization and leader in the community, we felt blocking and filtering content from inappropriate websites was the responsible thing to do for our customers.”, says Clyatt. Proctor has the additional benefit of customized branding, usage controls and bandwidth management to distinguish the service for its own hospital visitors.

“We will continue to develop applications and services dedicated to the needs of professionals in the healthcare industry.”, said John Marshall, CEO of Wandering WiFi. “As the culture continues to embrace advancements in technology and security, it’s great to see more healthcare providers offer benefits of public and private wireless solutions to their visitors and employees.”
